
Navodaya Vidyalayas are affiliated to CBSE and offer free education to talented children from Class-VI to XII. Each Navodaya Vidyalaya is a co-educational residential institution providing free boarding and lodging, free school uniforms, text books, stationery, and to and fro rail and bus fare to students. However, a nominal fee @ Rs. 600/- per month is charged from students of Classes- IX to XII as Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi. The students belonging to SC/ST categories, girls and children of the families Below Poverty Line (BPL) are exempted from payment of this fee. VVN is collected @ Rs. 1500/- per student per month from the students whose parents are Govt. Employees

- Under Computer Education Programme, I.T. Accessories, educational softwares and absolutely required hardwares can also be procured.
- Service of experts can also be utilized by the institution for promotion of sports, yoga adventure activities etc.
- Expenditure on educational Excursions need not be restricted to migrated students. However, excursions to the places of Historical importance, cultural and scientific interest shall be organized for all children.
- Expenditure for specialized training on cultural importance like Bharatnatyam, Kuchippudi, Mohiniyattom. Folk Dance, SPICMACAY programme, Art in Education etc. can also be met from this fund.
- Expenditure on Safety and Security, Health care, providing academic tools, quality improvement activities like, providing clean drinking water, hot water facilities, clean toilets with tiles paved on the toilet floor, providing reading room facilities etc. can also be taken up.
JNVs are also allowed to utilise VVN w.e.f. 1.1.2018 for following types of expenditures:
- Installation of CCTV camera in the common area.
- Maintenance of CCTV in the schools.
- Engaging the services of security personnel by outsourcing at the rate 2 personnel per school.
- Engagement of counselors on the part-time basis as per the approved norms.
NVS has adopted βzero tolerance policyβ as regard safety and security of students. Comprehensive guidelines have been issued in this regard time to time. Principals and Teachers have been educated about the importance of safety and security of children through various induction courses and the outcome has been found to be good.
- A full time Staff Nurse is appointed in each JNV to deal with emergency.
- It has been approved to appoint part-time doctors to visit JNVs for two hours every day on all working days on payment of Rs. 20,000/- (Rupees twenty thousand only) per month in respect of β(a) All JNVs located in hard and difficult areas.Other JNVs which are located beyond a distance of 10 kms. from Tehsil Hqrs. and 25 kms. from District Hqrs.In case of lesser number of visits the payment should be reduced on pro-rata basis.In other JNVs, honorarium of Rs. 5000/- (Rupees five thousand only) per month will be paid to the doctor for making 2 visits per week to the Vidyalaya.Additionally, Counsellors/Dentists/Eye Specialists, appointed by the Vidyalaya for the welfare of the students would be paid Rs.1,500/- per Visit.
- In addition to it facility of Vehicle to respond in case of any emergency is also provided.
- Necessary instructions have been issued to JNVs for ensuring safety of students from fire accidents by installing adequate number of Fire Extinguishers and MOEFA.
- Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 has been implemented in JNVs. Necessary instructions have been issued regarding prevention of Sexual Abuse of Girl Child. A School Complaint Committee (S.C.C.) should be set up in each JNV to serve as complaints and redressal body. This Committee shall be chaired by the Principal/Vice- Principal of the school, and shall consist of five other members, i.e. one male teacher, one female teacher, one female student, one male student and one non-teaching staff member. Each Regional Office shall have a Cluster Complaint Committee (C.C.C.), with the Assistant Commissioner in-charge of the Cluster as its Coordinator. In addition, each of these Committees shall have a female officer as a member.
